The session began with 8 people remaining until the finish. The ‘hungry minds’ of all the participants were quite fascinating to observe. The session started with a discussion of the oldest business you can imagine and the reasons it has endured to this day. What is a Business, Different Types of Businesses, and a brief Role Playing Game on a Simple Business were all conducted after the conversation.
Notes:
- This is not a course; rather, it is an exploration programme where participants are encouraged to ask questions and express ideas, there is no right or wrong. This is not an academic but an experiential learning environment, and your only goal is to equip yourself with critical thinking and questioning.
-
Will you stay till the end? – asked twice – as we are serious, and we expect you all serious as well
- All of the participants interacted well with one another, we caught them every time they were called, and they performed all the necessary duties.
NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation): Are They a Business? – ADE01’s question.
There were 6 people who actively participated in the session, and their levels of participation were as follows: Shammas (4/10), Sulfath (3/10), Ansal (5/10), Dinh Huong (4/10), Thao Do Hien (8/10), and Sana (5/10). To view the remarks for each participant, scroll down.
- The session began with an emphasis on the seriousness of the program, including the discipline of time and the commitment of all participants to fulfil all of the chores and missions, as many members are still quite unresponsive. Each participant receives a clear message about how serious we are when doing this, this is not for us, but for the sake of each participant – the future workforce
- A nice conversation on How you can make money? – A-by saving money, B-by selling to more customers, or C-by innovating, being the game changer? => All participants chose option C, but why don’t more companies do so? — Is it possible they are unaware of it? they are unable to? they are aware but unable to act? or they are aware but decide not to act? Same concern for the future workforce, what can you help businesses? and what do you choose to do?
- The discussion focused on the challenges that businesses typically face. We talked about how to spot problems and identified their root causes.
- Some attendees arrived late. However, two teams were formed, and both of them finished the assignments and gave presentations of their work. Although Huong’s team needs to work together more effectively, each member’s level of thought is marginally higher. Sana’s team works more closely together and has begun to raise questions, but still has to improve its quality of thought.
Although there are fewer participants, every one of them responded when called upon, was prepared to speak up, and gave it their all when needed.
- Sana (Cusat/ SMS): It is not advised to join while travelling. Every session, we have important work to discuss complete, and if the mind is not focused, you will not be able to get anything out of it.
- Dinh Huong (Academy of Journalism and communication): Hard work, but requires deeper depth in the analysis and observation, not just of the obvious but also of what is beneath the surface. If you’re having trouble communicating with the other two members, keep in mind that the problem isn’t language; it’s your own mentality. Teamwork might be enhanced.
- Thao Do Hien (VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities): arrived late, but made a decent effort and was eager to work hard in the team effort. However, you need to ask more questions.
- Mohammed Shammas (Albertian Institute of Management, Ernakulam): initially passive, but quickly picks up momentum
- Sulfath (Albertian Institute of Management, Ernakulam): arrived pretty late and will have to put in more effort to catch up.
- Ansal Ali (Ernakulam’s Albertian Institute of Management): excellent try to think more and beyond what you have read when being pushed, you would need to put more effort and work on your articulation.
There were 6 participants joining actively in the session, and their levels of participation were as follows: Shammas (5/10), Sulfath (5/10), Phuong Anh (7/10), Dinh Huong (5/10), Thao Do Hien (8/10), and Sana (6/10). To view the remarks for each participant, scroll down..
- The first 15 mins was for reviewing the previous lesson. The next 15 mins was for discussion about VUCA – What it means, how it works, how it impacts life and business. The members were divided into two teams to analyze the influence of VUCA on a particular industry.
- Some of the participants were late however they were attentive and responsive. In the end, they completed all the tasks.
- Thao’s question: Is the manufacturing process of aircrafts considered as ‘Complexity’ in VUCA acronym?
- The time needs to be better managed
- Participants’ performance:
- Thao Do Hien (VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities): Joined on time, responsive, good questioning, good teamwork, being able to see the interconnection among the different concepts
- Mohammed Shammas (Albertian Institute of Management, Ernakulam): Joined late, responsive however he should be more active in problem solving, improve the ability of self-study and engagement.
- Sana (Cusat/ SMS): Joined on time, hard-working, responsive, however she should raise her voice more on the teamwork’s discussion. There is quality in her thought process
- Dinh Huong (ACADEMY OF JOURNALISM AND COMMUNICATION): Joined on time, hard-working, good communication with other members in the teamwork. However, there is still limit in the thought about what is widely known, not many takeaways. She may need more focus to improve the depth in the thought process, and see beyond the obvious
- Phuong Anh: Joined on time, enthusiastic, good understanding, good presenting and communication on teamwork.
- Sulfath (Albertian Institute of Management, Ernakulam): Joined pretty late due to his schedule at university however he was willing to learn and caught up with the session. He should raise more voices in the teamwork’s discussion.
